-- No July meeting
Greetings,
In 1993, the West
Michigan Criminal Justice Training Consortium (WMCJTC) was organized
in conjunction with Grand Valley State University. Formal agreements and
by-laws were established by 1995.
The WMCJTC membership is currently composed of 72 law enforcement
agencies and three institutions of higher learning. Member agencies are located
south from the Michigan-Indiana state line to as far north as
Manistee and as far east as Ionia.
The consortium is funded by agencies pooling 35% of their annual
Public Act 302 training dollar distributions. Member agencies receive a
spring and fall distribution each year and are then invoiced accordingly.
This allows agencies to take advantage of a wide variety of training
opportunities and provides a valuable return on the dollars invested.
Members also provide in-kind services by donating staff and instructor time
to the consortium to minimize the cost for training and administration. The
WMCJTC also seeks grant funding each year to provide training to licensed
law enforcement officers.
Agencies wishing to join the consortium are accepted at the general
membership meeting held annually in May. Any agency wishing to join should
contact the WMCJTC Chair to receive an information packet
to start the process
anytime throughout the year.
The WMCJTC seeks grant funding each year to provide training to
licensed law enforcement officers.
